Highland Cedar Works has been milling, cutting, and installing western red cedar decks across western North Carolina since 2014. Every board is hand-selected at the yard — no finger-jointed fillers, no pressure-treated substitutes where cedar belongs. The crew of four has worked together for six years; the same faces show up on day one and punch-list day.

Maddox started the company after a decade framing custom homes in the mountains. He noticed that deck quotes were the one place homeowners always got surprised — either the scope crept or the timeline slipped. Highland Cedar Works runs on fixed-scope proposals and a two-week scheduling window, no exceptions.
